Our Dogs' First Birthday!
Sunday and Forest are our darling F1b aussiedoodles from Sunny Ridge Doodles' first litter of aussiedoodles last year. They were born August 9th, we brought home a brother-sister pair at the end of October (the day after the second wedding at our Farmhouse!), and things around here changed forever! Forest grew into a big, 55-pound love bug who lives to play ball, and his sister Sunday is a 30-pound mischievous little girl who loves to cuddle. They are best friends and playmates, and the lights of our lives!
Of course, throwing them a birthday party was just as much for us (ok, more for us) than it was for them. We just get so much joy out of making them happy, and a cheddar + peanut butter cake from nearby Jackboy's Dog Bakery (plus grain-free heart-shaped treats and ice cream cone-shaped dog cookies) did just that! The balloons, party hats and adorable birthday bandanas were lovingly tolerated by them in exchange for all the treats they could eat and toys they could play with. (Oh, and I finally found the perfect occasion to wear my Lisa Frank dress! Yay!)
As much as they loved licking the frosting right off the cake, the dogs also enjoyed every bite of the cake's cheddar-y, peanut butter-y goodness, which we cut up and froze for them to continue eating for weeks to come.
Happy birthday, Sunday and Forest! I hope we were able to give you back just a little bit of the joy that you bring to us every day.
